The Galil is a family of Israeli SM all arms designed by the Yisrael Galili and Yaacov Lior, produced by Israel Miltary Industries (now Israel Weapon Industries (IWI) Ltd.) The real steel weapon is chambered in 5.56 x 45mm. It was introduced into service in 1972. The Galil is available in different configurations barel length: A carbine variant known as the SAR (Short Assault Rifle), a compact MAR (Micro Assault Rifle) version, standard length AR (Assault Rifle) and an ARM (Assault Rifle Machine gun) Light machine gun.
