Take a closer look at the classic Marushin 8mm Tactical Response Pistol — a rare 1911-style replica known for its unique caliber, limited capacity, and collector appeal.
Greetings everyone, and welcome back to another edition of Flashback Friday! Today, we’re taking a look at a classic piece of airsoft history — the Marushin 8mm Tactical Response Pistol (TRP). This Japanese-manufactured replica is made primarily of plastic, similar to many current Tokyo Marui models. While some players might underestimate the 8mm platform, it holds a unique value for those who appreciate old-school replicas and historical builds. Compared to other 1911-style replicas like the TM and KWA, the Marushin TRP only holds 9 rounds, while the TM holds 24 and the KWA (pictured) holds 21. Its smaller capacity may seem limiting, but it adds to the realism and challenge that many veteran players enjoy. Take-down, disassembly, and reassembly are very similar to most 1911 replicas. However, as our San Diego staff member Lawrence discovered, certain upgrades are possible: Keep in mind that most slide and frame parts are proprietary. If one breaks, replacements are nearly impossible to find — part of what makes this replica a rare collector’s gem. The Marushin TRP fires 8mm 0.34g BBs at approximately 248–273 FPS (0.98–1.18 joules), putting it in a sweet spot for indoor fields — provided they allow 8mm BBs, of course.Flashback Friday: Marushin 8mm Tactical Response Pistol (TRP)
