Dial Your FPS: Installing the Nine Ball Valve on a TM Hi-Capa
Hello airsofters! Today we’re going to discuss FPS regulation in your Tokyo Marui gas blowback (GBB), specifically the Hi-Capa platform.
Airsoft Extreme carries the Nine Ball High Power Airsoft Gas Valve for Tokyo Marui Hi-Capa, 1911, and MWS platforms. This upgrade allows you to adjust the amount of gas flowing through your system, making FPS tuning possible for different field limits and conditions.
We’ll be using James’ TM Hi-Capa 4.3 to demonstrate both installation and adjustment of the Nine Ball valve. (Picture 1)

Establishing a Baseline
Before making any changes, it’s important to know where you’re starting. James’ Hi-Capa is shooting between 267–271 FPS with .20g BBs. (Picture 2)

Tools Required
- Mallet
- Punch
- Valve tool
(Picture 3)

Installation Process
- Remove the stock valve.
Use your valve tool to remove the factory valve from the magazine. (Picture 4)

- Disassemble the top of the magazine.
Using a punch, remove the feed lips and gasket seal. For easier adjustment later, remove the follower and follower spring as well. (Pictures 5, 6, 7)

- Install the Nine Ball valve.
Thread in the new valve using your valve tool. We’ll now test different flow settings to see how they affect FPS.
FPS Adjustment Results
Low Pass Setting (Valve Closed)
With the valve set to restrict gas flow, James’ Hi-Capa drops to 194–209 FPS with .20g BBs. (Pictures 8, 9)

Mid Pass Setting (Half Open)
For this setting, ensure the valve internals do not rotate while tightening. Use a punch to brace the internals during adjustment.
At mid pass, the gun shoots between 244–248 FPS with .20g BBs. (Pictures 10, 11)

High Pass Setting (Fully Open)
Set the valve to fully open, again bracing the internals with a punch while tightening.
At full gas flow, James’ Hi-Capa returns to 271–276 FPS with .20g BBs. (Pictures 12, 13)

Final Thoughts
This quick upgrade gives you a solid range of FPS adjustability, allowing you to fine-tune your Hi-Capa for indoor, outdoor, or field-specific limits without major internal modifications.
