PTS EPM-LR Magazine Modification for VFC SCAR-H
Welcome back to another Airsoft Extreme blog—where we cover everything from flashbacks to modifications to tips and tricks. Today’s topic: how to modify a PTS EPM-LR midcap magazine to properly fit a VFC SCAR-H. (See Picture 1)

⚠️ NOTE: Modifying your magazine will void the warranty. Proceed at your own discretion.
Understanding the Fitment Issue
When you look inside the magazine well of the SCAR-H, you’ll notice that the internal “spine” is raised and offset, unlike most .308 platforms where the spine is centered and recessed. (See Picture 2)

This difference in design prevents the PTS EPM-LR magazine from seating properly.
The Fix: Modifying the Magazine Spine
To resolve this, you’ll need to remove a small amount of material from the spine of the magazine. In our case, we removed approximately 1mm of material from the right side of the spine and slightly rounded it off. (See Picture 3 & Picture 4)

Tools & Tips
- Use a Dremel on low speed to remove the bulk of the material
- Finish with a hand file to smooth and clean up the surface
Take your time—removing too much material can affect fitment and retention.
Final Result
After modification, the magazine seats properly and functions as intended. You now get the benefits of increased capacity, improved durability, and a magazine that still matches the aesthetic of your SCAR-H—whether running it stock or fully built out. (See Picture 5)

Final Thoughts
We hope you enjoyed today’s modification tip and found it helpful. And remember, as Uncle Ben told Peter Parker: “With great power comes great responsibility.” Have a great rest of your day, and we look forward to seeing you in the next Airsoft Extreme blog!
